  DCFD Works a Late Night Structure Fire on Highway 302
B-1 shift was kept busy Monday night with a structure fire on Hwy 302 just north of Poplar Corner.  A call from a cell phone reported a possible structure fire at 7639 Goodman Rd (Hwy 302).  The call was dispatched to Walls at approximately 10:03 pm.  The 1st in engine company arrived on scene at 10:08 pm and advised of a single story residential structure with 35% involvement to the roof and 45% involvement of the interior.   Incident command was established and mutual aid was requested from Eudora, Nesbit, and Summershill for water as well as Horn Lake for man power.

Truck Company 9's crew made the initial entry through the front door and began an aggressive interior attack.  Horn Lake's engine company arrived on scene (2nd in Engine Co.) at 10:20 pm and pulled a second attack line to assist with the attack.  Fire was declared 'knocked down' at 10:38 pm.  Once the fire was knocked down, overhaul was started and an investigation team was requested.  All areas of the structure were overhauled with the exception of the room of origin.  Once the investigation team was finished, the last room was overhauled, command was terminated, and all units cleared the scene at 1:13 am, Saturday morning.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
