The Walls Fire Department is always looking for a few good men and women to
join the ranks of the fire service.
Basic Requirements for Applicants:
- 14 years of age for Fire Explorer/Cadet
- 18 years of age for Firefighter
- Complete Application to include Background Check
- Be able to serve at fire station one night a week for duty crew
What types of people volunteer?
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We have college and high school students, and professionals
who take time out of their lives to give to the community by volunteering at the Walls Fire Department.
The more diverse our membership is, the stronger our orginization is.
What kind of training will I receive?
New members are required to attain Mississippi Volunteer Firefighter Certification within one year of joining
the department. Volunteer Cert is offered once a year usually beginning in January or Fenruary. Classes
meet twice a week and covers basic firefighting, hazardous material, and extrication skills. Once classroom
instruction is complete, recruits will travel to the Mississippi Fire Academy to be checked off on skills.
