Our Training:
All new recruits are required to complete the volunteer certification
program. You learn Rope skills, ladder skills,
extrication, fire suppression techniques, report
writing, and knots among other things.
This class is 140 hours
long with the prerequisite of National Registry First Responder. These
classes must be completed within the first year of service on the
department. You will only be allowed to operate at any emergency scene to the
level that you are trained.
Volunteer Cert. class meets Tuesday and Thursday evening from 1900 hrs to
2200, and the class
schedule will be available on this site. At the end of Volunteer Cert.
class, all students travel to the Fire Academy in Jackson to check off on their
skills.
Walls Fire Dept. members training extends beyond the Cert. class. We regularly conduct training fires, extrication class and updates, rope rescue, basic hazmat, driver/operator class, and other fire service related training.
